New Contribution API#

At Melissa, our mission has always been to provide the most accurate and comprehensive address and geolocation data possible. However, even when working with the most premium global data sources, no dataset is ever 100% complete or perfectly up to date. Real-world changes – new construction, address reassignments, and improved geolocation precision – happen constantly.

To help bridge this gap and further enhance data quality, we are excited to introduce our new Contribution API.

This new capability empowers you to play a direct role in improving the accuracy and coverage of our dataset by submitting address and geolocation updates for review. By combining your real-world insights with our verification processes, we can deliver even more precise and reliable results for everyone.

What Does the Contribution API Do?#

The Contribution API provides submission options:

  1. AddMak – Submit new addresses that are not currently found in our database. Simply provide new address details via the contribution submission page or API.

  2. changeGeoPoint – Submit improved latitude and longitude coordinates for existing addresses when more accurate geolocation data is available.

We have made contribution as simple as possible, based on your workflow:

How to Get Access#

Access to the Contribution API is available to existing customers who use our address and geocoding services.

To get started:

  1. You must be an active subscribed to Melissa address and/or geocoding APIs.

  2. Contact your CSR to request access.

  3. Once approved, you will use your license key to access both Contribution API and submission portal.

Submission Review Process#

All submissions are subject to a thorough internal review and verification process. While customer contributions are valuable in improving our data, inclusion in future data releases is not guaranteed.

Each submission is carefully evaluated with final decisions determined after additional validation and consideration.

How Much Work Is Involved?#

Minimal effort is required. Contributions can be submitted quickly using your license key through either the API or the online form. No changes to your existing integrations are necessary.

We believe this collaborative approach will significantly enhance data accuracy and create better outcomes for all users.
