Introduction

Congress Contact provides monthly deliveries of comprehensive contact information and committee assignments for all 541 members of the US Congress. It includes:

• Capital and district office contact information (address, phones, faxes, email and/or webform URL), plus government website URLs, photo URL, biography and birthdate;

• Committee and subcommittee names, assignments and leadership titles - nearly 3,600 unique assignments;

• Additional identifiers that allow you to link our data to other valuable datasets, such as the Congressional Biographical Directory ID (BioGuide ID) and the Open Civic Data ID (OCD-ID) for political geographies.

Layout and Definitions

This product consists of two CSV files:

• The “US_CongressContact_Officials” file contains capital and district office contact information plus government website URLs, photo URL, biography, etc.

• The “US_CongressContact_Committees” file contains all committee and subcommittee assignments and related information.

Officials should be joined with committees based on “official_id”.

Fields will be filled out only if applicable. For example, many legislators do not have an email_2 or a url_2; some legislators may not have a secondary (district) address; some legislators may not provide a biography; and so on. As a general rule, we provide info that is publicly available on a legislator’s governmental website.
